1) This search engine purchases the domain name foodrecipes.com to capitalize on my incorrect spellling. This incorrect name redirected me to another website, which redirected me to a search engine.

2) Basically this search engine will help the sites who pay for keywords within their search engines by targeting people like me who cannot spell.

I happen to be looking for recipies and since I’m addicted to the internet and people call me a professional, I thought the easiest way to find my recipies would be to try some domain names. The domain I chose was http://www.foodrecipes.com [incorrectly spelled] and it redirected to http://www.cods.com/food which redirects to goto.com in the food directory http://www.goto.com/d/search/p/hubmedia/?Keywords=food

Well I loved this because I have purchased keywords within Goto.com. If they’ve done it with this domain, chances are they’ve done it for other domain names that are somewhat easy to misspell.

B. Another advertising trick which takes me back to banner tricks is the following.

If you go to a search engine, type in the term you are looking for in the box, press search etc. the next page should provide you with relevant links. In some cases the search engine will place the search term you used within a search box into an advertisers’ banner at the top of the listings. Basically you may be tricked into trying your search again but not notice that it’s an html box for searching at another site. This must by effective since I see it quite often.

It’s time you cosy up to the search engines and directories.
